Let Cleveland Rock 🎸 once more!
Despite yesterday's Extra Inning Loss to the Giants, there's quite a bit to be content about with this '23 Marlins Team in the early going. From Winning 3 straight Series (including this previous 1 against SF), and taking 4 of the 6 Series played overall so far in 2023. To Luis Arraez's scorching start 🔥 to the Season. Followed by the resurgence of Jorge Soler 💪. The electric stuff continuing to come out of the left arm of Jesus Luzardo 🦎. All the way to seeing what the Marlins Bullpen has been able to do 🔒🔒🔒 when given the ball with the lead.
The Fish hit the Road again starting tomorrow to face a couple of rivals, one in the not so traditionary sense. The Cleveland Indians (back then) and Marlins squared off in Florida's 1st ever World Series back in 1997. Fitting one could say that the Fish & Guardians (known now) meet as the Marlins are celebrating their 30th Anniversary Season throughout 2023. Cleveland is coming off a Division crown in 2022, and all though last year may have seen them don a new name, success is certainly nothing new in Ohio for a Team that's had a Winning Record every year minus 1 since 2013 (Terry 'Tito' Francona's 1st year at the helm). With the only thing missing in the Cleve obviously being a World Series Championship (with the Marlins having something to do with the Tribe not Winning 1 since 1948).
It'll be the first time since 2019 Cleveland and the Marlins matchup, as both Teams hold an even Regular Season record against one another at 11-11, with the only edge going Florida's way in the biggest of forms, Game 7 of the Fall Classic.
Following the weekend set at 'The Jake', the Fish head to Atlanta to face the Division Rival Braves for 4. The Marlins stand at 10-9 during the first 3 weeks of the Season due in very large part to a Bullpen that's preserved every lead handed to them so far. Manager Skip Schumaker has pushed many of the right buttons with a 'Pen that features Closer A.J. Puk, set-up man Dylan Floro, Tanner Scott, Huascar Brazoban, Matt Barnes, Andrew Nardi, and now even George Soriano.
Soriano showed a lot yesterday, pitching out of a 1st & 3rd nobody out jam in the 4th to keep the Marlins in the Game, and may have found out something about himself in the process. Soriano began to locate exceptionally well the Off-Speed (Sweeper & Changeup) and had Giant Hitters unable to do much of anything knowing he had 98 MPH in the Fastball at anytime. George Soriano, a Rookie name to keep an eye on throughout 2023 in what is turning out to be a very talented Marlins Bullpen. A 'Pen that'll certainly be needed on the Road Trip. #GoFish
