What a big Win my Marlins pulled off Sunday in L.A. In the short term it equaled the amount of total Victories that the Club had accumulated during their last 10 Game Road Trip, with still a 3 Game Series in Philadelphia left on the to-do list during this current 3 city tour. The Marlins are 11-14 in the 25 Games since losing Star Outfielder Starling Marte on April 18th. The Team finds itself only 3 1/2 Games out of 1st Place in the tight N.L East, certainty hanging in despite the rash of Injuries that the Club had to endure just a couple weeks back. And yet if you were to dive into some of the things that continue to hold-back to an extent my Marlins off the field, you wouldn't be wrong to think things could still be better. We'll start at the beginning, with the very good Baseball decisions made by the Derek Jeter led Ownership group here in Florida since buying the Club in the fall of 2017. The name of the game starts with Starting Pitching and the Marlins from the very begi

RBI Baseball

The Statistic known as the ‘Run Batted In’ brings a lot of debate in Baseball. More so then ever in an Analytic driven Sports World. Maybe it’s the old school in me but I still find great value in the Stat known as the R.B.I., and I’ll use a Player like Marlins M.V.P Jesus Aguilar as my example. Aguilar leads the National League in RBI’s with 31. Yes he popped yet another Home Run, number 9 last night in the Desert, but it’s in that clutch gene which not every Player possess that tells the story here in my opinion. Aguilar is hitting a cool .355 with Runners in Scoring Position this Season. With 2 Outs and RISP that number jumps to a crazy .600. He’s hitting .389 in late and close Situations (Which means the Game is within 3 Runs in the 7 th Inning or later), and .327 with men on base. For a contrast, Corey Dickerson has only 7 RBI’s this 2021. The peripheral numbers on Dickerson are solid .301/.379/.417. But let’s dive into those Clutch Statistics a little, where Corey is batting .15

Decisiones

Some decisions loom for the Marlins in the very near future. Both Jazz Chisholm & Jorge Alfaro begin Rehab Assignments today for Triple-A Jacksonville. Starting Pitcher Eliesar Hernandez is with the Marlins currently in Arizona. These 3 Players on the 10 Day I.L are close to returning, Chisholm/Alfaro possibly as of this weekend in Los Angeles. Who will be the odd men out upon their return? ..... It’s no secret Backup Catcher Chad Wallach is with the Marlins because of his Glove (and maybe because he’s Tim’s son too 😉), not because of his Bat. He’s Struck Out 7 of his last 9 AB’s. Defensively however Wallach HAS taken a step back in 2021. His 4 Past Balls behind the Plate lead the League, while his Game-Calling hasn’t been the best. Upon Alfaro’s return it should be Sandy Leon who remains on the Roster. Leon has also struggled (historically) Offensively, but his Big League experience as a Backstop has helped guide young Marlins Pitching in his short tenure with the Team. Knowing

Young Guns 'Bender Mania' has begun in the Sunshine State. Anthony Bender made his Big League debut this past Wednesday fresh off a dominant Spring Training. It was just as nice to see Manager Don Mattingly use Bender in a tight spot in yesterday's Ballgame, with the results being the same, a 1-2-3 Inning.  Jordan Holloway joins Bender as another Reliever who's opened eyes 👀 in the early going of the 2021 Season. Former Marlin/Current Broadcaster Todd Hollandsworth gave a very interesting comparison to Holloway during his 3 Scoreless Inning Outing on Wednesday. Hollandsworth saw similarities in Holloway to another Former Marlin and current TB Ray Nick Anderson.  Former Marlin Nick Anderson  Current Marlin Jordan Holloway You can definitely see those similarities, from their Over the Top Delivery, to their Pitch Arsenal. Both feature mid to high 90's Fastballs and big power BreakingBalls. If you recall a year ago, Holloway was listed as a Prospect in the Marlins Org
