Relief !

Young Guns

'Bender Mania' has begun in the Sunshine State. Anthony Bender made his Big League debut this past Wednesday fresh off a dominant Spring Training. It was just as nice to see Manager Don Mattingly use Bender in a tight spot in yesterday's Ballgame, with the results being the same, a 1-2-3 Inning.

Jordan Holloway joins Bender as another Reliever who's opened eyes 👀 in the early going of the 2021 Season. Former Marlin/Current Broadcaster Todd Hollandsworth gave a very interesting comparison to Holloway during his 3 Scoreless Inning Outing on Wednesday. Hollandsworth saw similarities in Holloway to another Former Marlin and current TB Ray Nick Anderson.

Current Marlin Jordan Holloway

You can definitely see those similarities, from their Over the Top Delivery, to their Pitch Arsenal. Both feature mid to high 90's Fastballs and big power BreakingBalls. If you recall a year ago, Holloway was listed as a Prospect in the Marlins Organization with a big time Fastball, but someone who needed a lot of work on his secondary Pitches. That certainly has changed in 2021, where Jordan even has a better feel now for that Power Curve than the Heater, similar to a young Nick Anderson. Anderson was entrusted into high leverage spots smack dab into his Rookie campaign in 2019. It may be time to see what a Holloway can do in those same big moments during his own Rookie Season.

Veteran Leadership

The Marlins have found something in the back end of their Bullpen. Yimi Garcia has absolutely ran with the Closer role. He proved that in Atlanta a few weeks back. Dylan Floro had found a home in the 8th Inning and most recently the 7th. He's been absolute nails since Opening Day, no matter the Inning. Which is why it's surprising to all of a sudden see an Anthony Bass receive 8th Inning opportunities. Bass faced 4 Batters on Tuesday, retiring Nobody, and Blowing yet another Save. It took an absolute herculean effort from Veteran Richard Bleier to get out of the Inning, which turned the entire Arizona Series. Bleier & Ross Detwiler give you 2 very capable Lefties out of your 'Pen. Hopefully we begin to see a Bender, and perhaps a Holloway incorporated into more late Inning situations, especially over a Bass who again was trying to blow a lead yesterday. You add Vet John Curtiss into the back end Bullpen mix, and not just 'Bender Mania', but 'Bullpen Mania' can really take over in Miami 💪.
