Our Marlins along with Derek Jeter and the Front Office brass are finding out the hard way you can’t just brush off certain aspects of the Club and expect everything to be ok. Especially when those areas are arguably the most important

.

The Marlins knew they had a Catching problem coming into 2021. So much so you heard the name Wilson Contreras floating around the Fish in Trade talks with the Chicago Cubs during the Off Season. Those rumors circulated because the Marlins benched Starting Catcher Jorge Alfaro during the Playoffs. We are all now seeing why Alfaro wasn’t in the Lineup when it mattered most. That’s the irony of it all. Jeter & the Front Office decided to stick with Alfaro going into ’21 and the results have been disastrous. So much so that Alfaro has turned himself into a tremendous liability behind the plate. To the extent it’s hard to fathom him being behind the dish every day, even for a Team 13 Games under .500. Jorge is making $2 Million in Arbitration this year and seems as certain a non-tender candidate during the Off-Season as you can find. While the Marlins Catching situation today and beyond seems very bleak.

The Team has hit a road block at 13 Games under .500 with 12 days remaining before the MLB Trading Deadline. That could spell the end in a Marlins' Uniform for Players such as Starling Marte, Jesus Aguilar, and Adam Duvall (or in other words, the entire Marlins Offense πŸ™ˆ). In the case of Aguilar (the leader in the National League in Runs Batted In), the Fish may want to give Lewin Diaz a shot at 1B (with the hope he’s the next Lewis Brinson Offensively). I mean it’s not like Aguilar has a full Year of control left in ’22. Or maybe they’re banking on Garrett Cooper staying Healthy 😬. What the heck, didn’t Monte Harrison take the biggest AB of the Game yesterday?! At least Don Mattingly will be the man on the Bench making sure of it all. How's that Bart Simpson quote go ⬆️.

The Fish do have an All-Star taking the bump in DC. Trevor Rogers & the Starting Staff for the Marlins have certainly been the bright spot. A Staff that lost a huge anchor over the weekend in Pablo Lopez however. We’re going to get an opportunity to see Pitching Prospects the likes of Braxton Garrett (who Pitched yesterday and wasn’t allowed the opportunity to qualify for a Win), Edward Cabrera, and (Speaking of Injuries) Eliesar Hernandez in the coming weeks. For our Marlins what’s concerning isn’t Prospects on the Pitching side of the ball these days, it’s the Prospects on the Offensive side. Just look at today's Lineup.
