Well, yesterday was interesting to say the least in Marlins circles. A 90 minute closed door Meeting was called by Manager (for now) Don Mattingly. A Meeting that in his own words was "for any issues (the Players) had, I wanted to get it out to where it was spoken out loud, not whispered behind anybody's back".

The Marlins Skipper even gave a bit of a self Managerial evaluation to the Miami Herald when speaking about the Meeting. Said Mattingly "I know people see me a lot. I don't react on the bench. I don't want to be emotional on the bench at all. I'm not a yell and scream guy in the clubhouse or on the bench. But when something is bothering me, it usually is in my stomach, and I know what needs to come out".

Marlins Ace Sandy Alcantara had that ⬆️ to say to Craig Mish yesterday following the Meeting. While Andy Slater talked about this ⬇️ today.

"The off-day (Following Sunday's Series Finale against the Giants) was not a very good off-day from the standpoint of, we have something we need to talk about" said Mattingly.

Does everybody agree with Donnie⚾️Baseball inside the Miami Clubhouse? Said Marlins 1st Baseman/DH Garrett Cooper: yesterday "wasn't really needed, a lot of nonsense" while mentioning the situation could have been handled 1 on 1 rather than through a Team Meeting.

Former Marlins President David Samson, who hired Mattingly all the way back in 2015, on his Show Nothing Personal mentioned Mattingly's comment of "I wouldn't be surprised if we come out flat as can be" prior to destroying the lowly Nationals 12-2 yesterday as being something "brilliant" considering the surroundings. Samson however, also cautioned that the Marlins Manager's "time was up".

Jazz Chisholm speaking to the MLB Network following last night's 2 Homer/6 RBI performance.

So what sparked the meeting? There were 2 "pockets" (a word that hopefully a soon to be former Skipper likes to use) that caught my eye in Sunday's 5-1 Loss to the Giants. A Contest that saw (a slumping, sure, but best Player on the Marlins) Jazz Chisholm Jr. on the Bench for the gazillionth time this Season.

Jazz didn't get the Starting nod at Second Base in Mattingly's Lineup Sunday, but replaced Luke Williams in the 5th Inning against the same Starting Pitcher down by 4 Runs?! With a runner on 1st and 2 Outs, Chisholm saw all 3 Pitches from Giants Starter Jakob Junis in the zone for Called Strikes.

An Inning later $53 Million Dollar Man Avisail Garcia tried (for lack of a better word) to beat out this ⬇️ Groundball.

Marlins Captain Miguel Rojas spoke to the media today and mentioned a couple of topics that were talked about yesterday. "Team Rules" and "running balls out" were brought up in the Clubhouse. A Clubhouse that may need a new Manager sooner rather than later. That's something Son Los Marlins has known for a very long time, so with no change in sight, let's just hope instead the Marlins can play the Nationals every day 😉. Tortuga 🐢 Time! #GoFish!
