Slam

You just knew someway - somehow that if the Marlins were to make some major noise late in 2023, they'd first have to figure out a way to defeat the Atlanta Braves. Boy, did the Fish make a statement this weekend, sweeping the 2023 N.L East Champion Braves, as the fight for the National League Wild Cards continues with only 12 Marlins Games remaining in the Regular Season.

The Marlins had dropped 9 of 10 meetings this year to Atlanta heading into this weekend Series in Florida. Not to mention how rough it had been overall for the Fish against the Braves dating back many years now. A mental block for the Marlins, if you will, against the Bravos. Mental blockage that was finally lifted and in a very big way, as the Regular Season is coming to it's finish. 36 to 13 did the Home Team outscore Atlanta in this Series and may have picked up something more along the way. Confidence, against a Team that's had their number and could meet up with again in the Playoffs.

🍔

It was the first time the Marlins had played the Braves with new additions Jake Burger & Josh Bell, and man did 🍔 go-off in this Series. 7 for 14 with 5 extra base hits and 6 Big RBI's did Burger go facing Atlanta for the first time as a Marlin. While speaking of firsts:

The Fish didn't have a Grand Slam all year, it took less than 24 hours for Jazz Chisholm Jr. to rack up 2 of em between Saturday and Sunday. Tanner Scott picked up another Save and pitched out of yet another bases loaded jam. Garrett Hampson & Jacob Stallings had absolute massive Hits in Gm. 1. Johnny Cueto & Bryan Hoeing kept the Fish in Games both Friday & Saturday. Luis Arraez hit 2 Leadoff Homers and 3 Long Balls overall in the first 9 Offensive Innings of the Series for the Marlins. Jorge Soler returned from the I.L Sunday and went Yard himself. Jesus Luzardo shoved to finish off the Sweep. The Marlins Offense tallied 7 Innings in which they scored 3 Runs or more this weekend!

Contributions were abound for the Fish. The Marlins, who are just about to get underway against the Mets in their penultimate Home Series.
