Una Mas

Una semana más. 1 more week, and the 2020 MLB Regular Season comes to an end. My Marlins control their own destiny. They sit in 2nd Place (which guarantees you a spot in the Playoff Dance), but only hold a 1 Game lead on the Phillies for that position. Philadelphia themselves hold just a ½ Game lead for 1 of 2 Wild Card seeds, as that’s exactly what this final week is shaping up to be, Wild! All this while the Marlins have a chance at taking the entire National League East Division. That would mean the Fish would host the Wild Card Round (which consists of a 3 Game Series to start the Postseason) right here in Florida️. The Marlins sit 3 Games behind the Atlanta Braves, who they happen to start a 4 Game Series with TONIGHT!

Miguel Rojas, whose 3 Run Homer in Philly was 1 of the biggest hits of the Season for the Marlins.

Easy? Who said it would be easy?? Following the 4 Gamer in Atlanta, the Fish head to New York to play the Yankees coming off a 10 Game Winning Streak. But let me hit you with some facts. Since when has it been easy for this Club??? They lost they’re Gameday Starting Pitcher, along with 2 Starting Position Players in Game number 3 of the Season in Philadelphia all the way back in July. What did they do? They took the Ballgame that July 26th, after being down 4-0 in the 1st, and with it, took a Season’s Opening Series for the first time since 2014.

They lose EIGHTEEN PLAYERS to Covid-19 soon after. Are shut down without being allowed to leave they’re Philly Hotel for a week. Come back with 17 New Players, after they’re “Trece” that remained had ZERO ABILITY TO PRACTICE ON A BASEBALL FIELD. What do they do? Sweep a 4 Game Series in Baltimore upon return, and take 7 of they’re next 10 Games.

They’re forced to head to New York to play 1 GAME in the middle of a Homestand to close out August. Easy. All they gotta do is face 2 Time Reigning Cy Young Winner Jacob DeGrom for a 4th Consecutive Start. What do they do? ?

The week without Games following the Covid-Outbreak inside the Team caused 14 Doubleheaders. The Marlins finished 10-4 in those 7 Inning affairs. The Fish are also just completing 21 GAMES IN 17 DAYS. A schedule unlike any of the Teams within this Division. How’d they fair? 12-9! We’ve said it time and time again here at Son Los Marlins what the rest of Baseball will soon find out, how “Special” this Club is 😉.

Final Week Notes

After completing the home portion of the Regular Season yesterday, there were some interesting Players on the plane to Atlanta to start the Braves Series. Son Los Marlins reports Jesus Sanchez was taken from their Alternate Site in Jupiter. While Fish Stripes reported Jose Devers was also taken from Jupiter, and added to the Club’s “Taxi 🚕 Squad”. The “Taxi-Squad” was something MLB designed for 2020 to assist Club’s on the Road. Seeing as there is No Minor League Baseball this year, it was made to protect Club’s from Injury, or as we now know in 2020, Covid. Each Team could carry up to 5 Players on their “Taxi🚕Squad”, however that looks to have changed during this final week.

A Player who shouldn't be on that Taxi-Squad, but instead on the Marlins Active Roster, is Magneuris Sierra. Not only would Sierra’s Speed be a huge addition, but his Bat should help as well. We tend to forget Mag’s was a .278 Hitter with a .372 OBP before going down with a Hamstring Injury.

2 Bullpen Arms not talked about much had still found themselves in Jupiter as of this weekend. Stephen Tarpley & Jeff Brigham. The Fish sometimes seem tentative to make a hard decision. Guys like Robert Dugger & Alex Vesia can be DFA’d in order to make room on the 40 Man Roster. Numbers Don’t Always Lie.
