Let's not get it started, let's continue πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†

An absolutely terrific Spring was just concluded by the Marlins, and not just record wise (Though they did win the Grapefruit League for the first time since 2006 πŸ˜‰). The Fish’s big Lefty Prospect Trevor Rogers, claimed, overpowered, and in instances outright dominated on his way to securing a spot in the Rotation (Just ask Houston 🀠). Veteran newcomers Antony Bass & Adam Duvall showcased their own power-skills with an Arm/Bat combination that helped both Players secure terrific Seasons' in 2020. Jazz Chisholm "earned" (key word) the Opening Day 2B job with an infectious energy he displayed throughout all facets of his Game 🎷. All of this while the Jesus Aguilar's, Garrett Cooper's, Jon Berti's, Sandy Alcantara's, Pablo Lopez's, Starling Martes', and Miguel Rojas' seem more ready to go then ever into this 2021 Season πŸ’ͺ.

We mentioned Chisholm, who was competing with Isan Diaz for the Second Base Position, and how it was earned not given. It took a catastrophic-like Spring at the Dish for Diaz not to be handed the job. Good for Jazz and Jon Berti, who may very well 'run' (Pun intended) with the Position throughout the Year.

You know depth on each Team will be tested thoroughly in a 162 Game Campaign. Which is why it was/is a bit disappointing to see the Marlins Trade a James Hoyt. I agree someone like Rule 5 Pick Paul Campbell deserves an opportunity to break Camp in Miami, but if he or say a Ross Detwiler continue to struggle in the early going, having a Hoyt (who was lights out in 2020) to call upon, would have been a very nice safety net that no longer exists. With James Hoyt having an Option left on his Contract, he should have remained a part of the Organization.

Hoyt isn't the only Player with at least 1 Option left. There really isn't a need for Lewis Brinson on the Big League Roster at the moment (Insert joke on how that's been the case the last 4 years here _____ please). All jokes aside, Berti and Garrett Cooper figure to see a lot of Playing-time off the Bench. While speaking of 'handing out opportunies 4 years and counting now, Chad Wallach will serve as the Backup Catcher. Mags Sierra (Whose out of Options) should serve as the Fourth Outfielder/Defensive-Replacement/Pinch Runner. A role Brinson will also have on the Team. Keeping both Sierra and Brinson give you a total of 7 Players on your Roster that can play the Outfield. While again a Hoyt or an Anthony Bender could have provided quality Innings out of your Bullpen to begin the Season if the Marlins had decided to carry 14 Pitchers instead of 13 Position Players.

Not a so called "expert" alive picks the Marlins to finish outside of Last Place in the N.L East Division. πŸ€” How's that Roy Jones Jr. song go πŸ€” "Ya'll Must Have Forgot"?!

Are they that naΓ―ve to think the Starting Pitching that has carried this Organization the last 3 years and helped lead them to become 1 of the last 4 National League Teams standing less then six months ago, isn't getting better with Sandy Alcantara's Ace Mentality? With Pablo Lopez & Eliesar Hernandez continuing to improve, and improve, and improve some more... With Trevor Rogers & Sixto Sanchez on the verge of knocking the entire scene down?!

Do these "experts" think that a Lineup that literally ⬆️ scratched, clawed, ran, and powered their way into so many Games a Season ago doesn't feature All-Stars the likes of Jesus Aguilar & Starling Marte?? Doesn't provide power in the forms of Garrett Cooper & Adam Duvall? Doesn't include Capitan Miguel Rojas & Cornerstone Brian Anderson???

1 more thing we do know, even if the Standings come October look like they did this Spring, our Marlins will forever be the Underdogs, and they wouldn't have it any other way πŸ†πŸ†. Happy Opening Week everybody!
