"Rocky Mountain esque" Marlins?!
24-50. That is the 2021 Marlins Road Record with only a Road-Trip left on the Schedule. 38-34.. That equals the Club's Record in Little Havana heading into Friday night.. Almost a Colorado Rockies like disparity for these Marlins between Road & Home. You can see why Denver, which has always been known as a Hitter's Paradise, hosts such Home Field advantage for a Rockies Team this year (and always) whose 45-27 at Home, as opposed to 23-51 on the Road. Colorado is known for it's high altitude, humongous Outfield, and lower air density which allows the baseball to absolutely fly. But Miami?!
2014 marked the 1st of 6 non-Losing Seasons in Miami for the Home Team, despite the Marlins finishing all 6 Years with an overall losing mark.
loanDepot Park too, has about as expanded an Outfield as there is in the League. But instead of being Hitter Friendly, Marlins Park is a Pitcher's Dream. Which begins to make sense for a Marlins Team that has really produced on the mound the last 4 years. In fact, since the Marlins moved into their new home in Little Havana in 2012, the Club has an overall record at Home of 356-386. Quite impressive when you consider 9 Losing Teams in those same 10 years.
The Marlins Road mark since 2012? Try 292-466 😬. The Fish have finished only once with a Winning Record as a Visiting Team since 2010. That'd be the 2020 Playoff Marlins, who not only played out the Campaign with no fans in the Stands (both at Home and on the ROAD), but also played 4 Games as the "technical Home Team" while playing in the opposition's Ballpark. The Fish went on to go 4-0 in those Ballgames as the Visiting "Home Team", which bumped their overall 2020 Regular Season Road Record to 20-14.
Point all being, if the Marlins are to creep into relevance in that Playoff picture once more, they'll have to begin to reverse those Road fortunes. This past week was a good example, as the 2021 Squad finished a .500 Road Trip into Atlanta & Washington. I guess that baseball lingo has some truth to it huh? Play .500 on the Road, means all you have to do is take care of business at Home 🙂.
