All Time (Outfield)

"All time" pinch hit leader Lenny Harris.

What better time than during a Pandemic to bring out the Marlins All Time Team. Here is my take on the legends of Florida baseball. Today we dive into the Outfield.

Right Field:

Gary "Shef" Sheffield

One of the most feared hitters not only in Marlins History, but of his generation, Garry Sheffield occupies Right Field on this  All Time Fish Roster. He is the only member of the 500 Home Run Club to ever suit up in Miami, with 122 of those coming in a Marlin Uniform. 'Shef', a 2 time All-Star with the Marlins, as well as a Silver Slugger winner in an incredible 1996 Season, helped bring the Commissioner 's Trophy to Florida in 1997. This World Champ was the Organization's first true Superstar.

Center Field:

Giancarlo "Mike" Stanton

Before you ask, yes, Giancarlo Stanton played a total of 1 Game in Center Field back in 2011 πŸ˜‰. Though Shef knocked Stanton out of Right, "Mike" knocked many more as Record Leaders in Marlins History. Giancarlo is a 4 time All-Star, 2 time Silver Slugger, twice the recipient of the Hank Aaron Award, led the League twice in Homers, and was the 2016 Home Run Derby Champ, all as a Marlin. His most special Season came in 2017, when "Big-G" hit 59 Bombs, drove in 132 (Both Marlin Single Season Records), and captured the first MVP Award in Franchise History. Stanton is both the Team Leader in Home Runs (267) and RBI's (672).

Left Field:

Miguel "Miguelito" Cabrera

Though Stanton holds many Records, I don't think there is any denying Miguel Cabrera probably goes down as the most talented Marlins Player in their History. As true as a Hitting Prodigy as you'll ever know, Cabrera signed with the Fish at the age of 16. His first game in the Big Leagues featured a Game Winning Walk-Off Blast off his bat in 2003. Later that Season, at the age of 20, "Migueltio" was hitting clean-up and homering in the World Series, helping Florida capture their 2nd World Championship. "Miggy" was an All-Star each of his 4 Full Seasons in Miami (including Hitting over .320 from '05 - '07), he won 2 Silver Sluggers, ranks 4th in Franchise History in RBI's, and 5th in Homers.

..For those of you keeping score, this is what my Marlins All Time Lineup looks like -

  1. Hanley Ramirez, SS
  2. Luis Castillo, 2B
  3. Ivan Rodriguez, C
  4. Miguel Cabrera, LF
  5. Garry Sheffield, RF
  6. Giancarlo Stanton, CF

Good Luck National League Pitchers..
