Fightin' Fish

First off, how awesome is it to have Tommy Hutton back in the T.V Booth! It makes even Paul Severino more likeable πŸ˜‰. T-Hut's quote after Monday's Game was/is spot on. The Marlins nearly erased another 5-0 deficit last night. The catch-22 is the Marlins finding themselves down 5 with Sandy Alcantara, Pablo Lopez, and Trevor Rogers on the Bump. But how many times are we really gonna say that this year with those 3 🐴🐴🐴? The fight the Marlins have shown after getting hit in the jaw early is something to keep an eye on.

The Marlins were trying to avoid a Home Sweep today at the hands of the Arizona Diamondbacks, who brought some Pitching horses of their own this Series, with former Marlin Zac Gallen Tossing a Gem in Game 1. The D-Backs have been able to exorcise some South Florida demons the last couple days, Winning a Series in Miami for the first time since 2018. Arizona had lost 6 out of their last 7 Games at Marlins Park dating back to 2019. While the Seattle Mariners, the Marlins previous Opponent, won a Game in Miami Sunday for the first time since 2005!

This all came on the heels of a 7 Game Marlins Winning Streak, with 5 of those Victories coming on the N.L East Road. The Fish embark on a West Coast Road Trip that starts tomorrow in San Diego. But first, they're facing Madison Bumgarner today (No easy task) with hopes of finishing they're current Home Stand at a .500 mark and more importantly above the .500 threshold overall before heading West.

The Marlins will pit Eliesar Hernandez against the Snakes today. This marks another big Start for Hernandez with Prospects Edward Cabrera & Max Meyer on the verge of the Big League Starting Rotation. Eliesar certainly isn't the only one whose gotten out of the 2022 gates slow. Avisail Garica & Jorge Soler have gotten off to dismal starts (keyword 'starts') to their Marlins Careers. What is more concerning, don't know if 'hard headedness' is the word, of Manager Don Mattingly continuing to place someone like Soler in the 3 Spot of the Batting Order everyday.

At the moment of the Soler Signing I did not believe the Marlins were going to view him as, say 'the man' in they're Lineup the way they have since day 1. But more as, say a very talented complimentary piece that gave you're Batting Order even more depth. However, even through the massive struggles, Soler has found himself in either the Leadoff or 3 Spot all young Season long. It may be double beneficial to see Garcia and Soler towards the bottom half of the Lineup to try and take away any added pressures of coming over to a New Team on New Contract$. The Marlins need at least 1 of these gentlemen to get going soon at the Plate.

Despite the Newcomer troubles on the Marlins, the Club has been able to bounce back throughout the very early Season. After a rough Opening Road Trip in California, the Fish took 3 out of 4 from the Philadelphia Phillies to kick off they're Home Schedule. The Marlins then avoided the Sweep at the hands of the Cardinals, snapping an 8 Game skid against the Red-Birds in the process, and carried that momentum over into 3 consecutive Series Wins. Jazz Chisholm & company will try to do the same today against the Diamondbacks, Jazz's former Organization. I don't think the young Marlins Phenom knew that coming into the Series πŸ˜‰. All Chisholm has done is drive in 4 Huge Runs, reach base 4 times, score a pair of Runs, and put the Marlins practically on his back the past couple of days. A Marlins Team that continues to show a lot of fight. Go Fish!
