Big early Win for the Fish on Saturday, their first of the 2021 Season. Tampa Bay, fresh off a World Series appearance came as advertised, while the Marlins & Rays went toe to toe, especially on the Pitching side of things. Days-off seem to come in inopportune times for the Marlins, who had 3 days off between their final Exhibition Game and Opening Day, while not playing on Sunday after puting up 12 Runs on the Rays in the finale of their Opening Series. Speaking of Offense, our Fish welcome a loaded Cardinals' Offense to Miami tonight to kick off a 3 Game Set. A nice early test.


The Atlanta Braves lost the 2021 All-Star Game this weekend. There were rumors circulating that the All-Star Game and all the festivities that surround it could be brought back to Florida. It would bring an obviously huge economic bump back to the Marlins. It also would be a safe decision for MLB, as the State of Florida has been one of the most lenient States throughout the Pandemic. There would be no fear of the Stae shutting down, as there could be full capacity at the Stadium if the Game was held today. Something to monitor.

The Fish announced the initial 25 Players they will carry at their Alternate Site, which is in the City of Jacksonville for 2021. Jupiter, which was the destination of that Alternate Site last year, will hold Minor League Spring Training this month, in anticipation of the Minor League Season beginning next month. The 25 Players above are eligible to be Called-Up by the Marlins in the month of April and could also be carried on Taxi Squads throughout early Road-Trips. Our Fish will dip into Jacksonville for reinforcements, key word, ealry.

  If the old baseball song 'Take me out the Ballgame' ever rung more veracious today for the Marlins, it'd have to be the part where it goes "If they don't win it's a Shame". Because I don't think there's a better word to describe the Fish right now, than shame. Shame that the Marlins stand here today with a record of 6-23, after just making the Playoffs last Season. Shame, that they blew a 7 to Nothing Lead to the Washington Nationals yesterday afternoon. Shame that the Marlins have yet to win a single Series in 2024. And what's probably the most shameful part into what's become the worst start of a Season in Marlins History, is what the Organization has done and probably will do in the near future to mitigate such a disaster. Can only get better from here?

  No way around it. The Marlins have started the Season as bad as it gets in the Win/Loss column. A straight O for 5 to commence 2024. Frustration was palpable inside the Marlins Dugout last night. A 4 Game Sweep at the hands of the Pittsburgh Pirates was followed by a 7-4 Loss to the Angels to commence a new Series and the month of April, all at Home. The Marlins lost a 3 Run Lead on Opening Day, a 5 Run Advantage on Sunday, and a 4-0 start to yesterday's Game. The Shutdown Inning from their Starters has been nonapparent each time the Fish have scored first, from Jesus Luzardo on Opening Day, to Trevor Rogers & Max Meyer having both been given big leads in the First Inning. Not to mention short Starts from A.J Puk & David Weathers.  The Marlins Offense is the one that does seem to shutdown after some early hot starts.   As much Roster turnover as say, the Marlins Lineup has had over the last few months, with the additions of Avisail Garcia, Jorge Soler, Jacob Stallings, and Joey Wendle. Not to mention the additions by subtractions of Lewis Brinson, Jorge Alfaro, and Isan Diaz. The Marlins Bullpen has pretty much stayed the same since the end of last year, and that may not necessarily be all that of a bad thing. With the volatile nature that is Relieving from 1 Season to the next at times in Major League Baseball, the Marlins decided to allocate more of their Payroll recourses in upgrading the Offense this Off-Season, true. But don't discredit the fact that the Club retained a couple of their most reliable Veteran Relievers either. Groundball machine Richard Bleier and the Marlins came to terms yesterday on a 2 Year Contract extension that'll cover the Ballclub's most reliable Lefty's final year of Arbitration, as well 1 Free-Agent year.
