Trevor Rogers, the Fish’s 1st Draft choice back in 2017, pitched in a game for the first time wearing a Marlins uniform yesterday. After struggling in his first pro season in 2018, Rogers made tremendous strides last year. The cousin of former Marlins’ fan favorite Cody Ross, Rogers pitched to a 2.53 ERA in Jupiter, tallying 122 strikeouts in 110.1 innings, earning a promotion to Double-A at seasons end. His stuff played yesterday in an impressive ‘exhibition’ inning in which you could see what made him a 1 st Round Pick. Explosive fastball, nasty little breaking ball, all coming with a good compact delivery from the left-hand side. Speaking of prospects. Jazz Chisholm and Monte Harrison are bringing some energy early in camp. Chisolm looks swift on the defensive side of the ball, playing Shortstop like a young Hanley Ramirez  😎 . His glove has impressed early. While Harrison looks a lot more comfortable in his now 3 rd Big League Camp, having swiped 3 bases in a pair of gam

i Fulllll Squaaad !

To echo Heavyweight Boxing Champ Deontay Wilder (Big Fight this weekend  🥊 🥊   btw) with his trademark phrase “BOOOMB SQUAAAD”! It’s Fulllll Squaaad at Marlins Camp, as in just regular Full-Squad   😉   today. Everyone has reported to Jupiter, all 64 Players worth. A number that needs to be trimmed to 26 by late March. But with “Marlin Predictability” and barring the “Injury Bug”, the 26 set to go to Miami are pretty close to set. Beyond the obvious like Brian Anderson (The Fish’s best player) in Right Field or Third Base. Jorge Alfaro and Francisco Cerveli behind the Dish. Corey Dickerson in Left, Miguel Rojas (Marlins’ Leader) at Short, and Jonathan Villar somewhere  ¯\_( ツ )_/¯ . There are other guys who are locks in this Roster that Florida won’t say publicly. Big Jesus Aguilar will be the everyday First Basemen, as he should be. His salary will be in the neighborhood of 2 ½ Mill but beyond that, deserves the Op to see if he can regain an All-Star form that was present

"We're getting closer to that point"

Granted, that quote didn't have to do with Spring Training, but 'we are getting close' to camp opening for the Marlins in 2020. In a matter of days, as a matter of fact, a new wave of Marlins Talent we'll be on full display in Jupiter. A ton of the Org's top prospects received Invites to Big-League Spring Training this year, with the understanding that their time in the Show is nearing. And while that time may not be at the beginning of this season, and for a few of these ballplayers, may not come until 2021. This will serve as an opportunity for these individuals to showcase themselves at the highest level. The Ballclub's current & future success depends heavily on how this talent transfers to the bright lights. "We're getting closer to that point where it's time for us to get competetive". "Get past that build-mode to where it's time to start winning some games". - Don Mattingly  Talent is in abundance through ever
