Go Sports!

Marlins Full Squad has reported and gotten in their first Official Workout of 2024 Spring Training. Major League Exhibition Games kickoff this weekend in both Florida and Arizona. Opening Day is at the end of next month. Baseball season is here!

Furthermore on that baseball front, College Baseball kicked off this past Friday. There've been a few upsets in the NCAA world. Just last night #1 Ranked Wake Forest went down to the University of North Carolina GREENSBORO Trojans.

Those so called 'Vandy Boys' dropped Saturday's contest to the FAU Owls and darn near lost that Opening Series at Home, before going down again last night to the University of Dayton Flyers.

It's certainly baseball season baybay!!

We hinted we'd begin to touch a little on Combat Sports here at Son Los Marlins. Though new UFC Featherweight Champion Ilia Topuria did more than touch up former Champion Alexander Volkanovski en route to a 2nd Rd. Knock Out Saturday. (Btw, Topuria was not born in Spain, only spent a small part of his youth there. Could have fooled me with his Sylvester the Cat Spanish accent 🇪🇦)

Speaking of European Champions, it was unfortunate to see the Unified Heavyweight Championship Boxing Match that was scheduled for this past Saturday postponed a few weeks ago due to the nasty cut above the right eye suffered by WBC & Lineal Champ Tyson Fury in a sparring session. It's the same eye which Fury suffered one of the deepest lacerations you'll see in boxing facing Otto Wallin all the way back in 2019.

The Fury vs the WBA, WBO, IBF Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk Contest is now scheduled for May 18th, in what will be the biggest Heavyweight Fight in Boxing since the Fury-Deontay Wilder Trilogy.

Speaking of May and just to come ✈ ALL THE WAY✈ around full circle here 😉, May 17th through the 19th will also be the first Regular Season encounter between the Marlins & Mets in Miami. I had the opportunity to see the Metropolitans up close in personal during their first Full-Squad Workout in Port St. Lucie this past Monday:

New York's got a couple ex-Fish on their 40 Man Roster in Starling Marte & Joey Wendle, as well as NRI's Cole Sulser, Austin Allen and Jose Iglesias (though Allen & Iglesias never got the call to Miami).

We did spend Saturday in Marlins Camp, where we got to take in a little Minor League Scrimmage, which featured a few Players who helped capture Jupiter's first ever FS League Championship last Season, in Thomas White, Noble Meyer, Kemp Alderman and Javier Sanoja.

Remember, the Hammerheads & Palm Beach Cardinals had to play the 2nd Half of their Season's (along with the Postseason) in West Palm Beach at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches because of renovations that were to be made at Roger Dean Stadium. We found out yesterday from Marlins Owner Bruce Sherman those plans were "delayed a year", which may mean Jupiter's headed to West Palm again in 2024.

The Marlins themselves are headed to West Palm Beach next weekend to face the Nationlas. Ya see, it's Baseball Season, and there's no delay there.
