WORLD Series

 


The 2024 World Series kicks-off Friday night in Los Angeles, California. When/where the Dodgers will host the New York Yankees in Game 1 of the Fall Classic. It's the first meeting for a World Championship between these two iconic Franchises since 1981, the year Fernando Valenzuela's Dodgers took down Reggie Jackson's Yankees. The 2024 World Series will actually mark the 12th time these 2 Clubs have met in October, dating back to the Brooklyn Dodgers days. 




Star power has been a plenty when these Teams have hooked up in October. From Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle and Yogi Berra, to Jackie Robinson, Sandy Koufax and Fernando. With iconic Managers as well, the likes of Tommy Lasorda & Billy Martin. 



Reggie's Yanks Won the Title over L.A in '77 & '78 and have mostly dominated when both Clubs have met in October pasts. The Yankees have taken 8 of the 11 World Series meetings with the Dodgers dating all the way back to 1941, though again, those mostly came when both Clubs were in New York.



Don't worry, as Stars will again be center stage during this 2024 rendition of the Fall Classic featuring N.Y & L.A. For the Yankees, they'll be led into Los Angeles with a hitting trio of Aaron Judge, Juan Soto and former Marlins MVP/current ALCS MVP Giancarlo Stanton. They'll be pitted up against former League MVP's Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and some guy named Shohei Ohtani.




While the World Series takes center stage this week, the NBA Season got underway last night in Beantown, where the Boston Celtics gave a drumming to the New York Knicks. 



Over in Tinsel Town where Game 1 of the World Series takes place, a little Basketball History was made, when the Los Angeles Lakers featured the first father-son combination to play in an NBA Game. LeBron James & his son Bronny James appeared for 3 minutes together during the Lakers victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves, of course in a typical LeBron story, it didn't go without a little controversy.





The Miami Heat get their Season going tonight at Home against the other local Team in the Orlando Magic. Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo should all be in the Starting Lineup for the Heat against a Magic Squad that looks to continue to close the gap between the 2 Franchises.   As the Major League Baseball Regular Season comes to it's finish this weekend (well, kind of 🍑🍎), it's been crunch time for numerous Teams (some not even in the Playoff Race), all as October draws ever so closer. Both the Dodgers & Yankees clinched their Divisions last night at Home, over the Clubs just beneath them in the Standings no less in the Padres & Orioles.  While there's not much surprise in that L.A & the Yanks are headed to October once again, the same can't be said about Detroit and Kansas City. I don't think many people had the Tigers & Royals on their Postseason bingo cards when the Year started, yet both have magic numbers of just 1 to clinch American League Wild Cards. All while the Marlins of all Teams lent a very big hand to both Clubs this week.   Fresh off a winning Road-Trip and a .500 Homestand, the Marlins hit the Road once more to Pittsburgh P.A to face Rookie phenom Paul Skenes and the Pirates. The last time the Fish were in PNC Park, the Franchise was celebrating a Playoff berth almost a full year ago. While things have certainty gone in the opposite direction this year for the Marlins, they will be featuring some talented Rookies of their own in this Series.
