Madness
July 21st. The Marlins head to Atlanta to play 2 Exhibition Games prior to Opening the Regular Season in Philadelphia. Thursday, August the 13th, The Fish finally returned home. Manager Don Mattingly joked that “rent would be due” upon returning to a place they haven’t been in almost a month. So what’s all transpired since then? Oh nothing much. 18 Players and a few staff members went down with Coronavirus (Including 4 starting Position Players and you’re top 3 Starting Pitchers). Nobody on the Team was allowed to leave their Philadelphia hotel rooms for over a week. Those contracted with the virus were then bussed to Miami, while those who remained were bussed to Baltimore to play the red-hot Orioles who they swept in 4 Games. 1 Player opted out of the 2020 Season. The Marlins signed, traded for, or claimed 12 Players from outside the Organization, and added them to their Big League Roster. Brought up another 10 Ballplayers to Baltimore that were a part of their squad training in Jupiter. Added 6 Players to the Jupiter site. Have won 6 of their 9 Games since then, after having won their Opening Series. Are in 1st Place in their Division. So yeah, nothing much going on 😉.
Francisco Cervelli
Where would the Fish be without leaders like Francisco Cervelli. The veteran backstop who has done a tremendous job guiding Marlin Pitchers and come up with some timely hits at the plate. Without Jesus Aguilar, who has returned to being an absolute RBI 🤖 Machine, while keeping the Clubhouse loose during (more typical than usual) difficult times. Without Brian Anderson, who leads by example, and continues to be as steady as you will see in the Game on both Offense & Defense.
Jesus Aguilar
Something about all this madness has brought this Team together and it has shown on the field. Beyond results, which have been good for the Marlins, this Club is playing as one as they are surprising the Baseball world 🌎⚾🌎.
