10 Games in and the Marlins have seen almost exclusively the New York Mets in 2023. N.Y took 3 out 4 in Miami to open the Season, however the Fish were able to avoid the sweep in Flushing yesterday, this after Sandy Alcantara/Jesus Luzardo & Co. took the in between Series from the Minnesota Twins @ the Depot last week.

Yesterday's Easter Victory could prove some what large in the very early going of the '23 Campaign. Not only did it avoid the Sweep at the hands of the Mets, but the Marlins did it with their number 5 Starter in they're Rotation on the Bump. Selecting to give Alcantara the extra day's rest after his Complete Game Shutout against the Twins on Tuesday.

Braxton Garrett, replacing Johnny Cueto (Florida's Number 5 Starter) because of Injury and lack of performance, got the ball in Queens Sunday. Garrett's 1st Start of the year came against an opponent in the Mets he had made 3 Career Starts against (0-1, 3.80 ERA in those Outings coming in). A Game last summer on Keith Hernandez day in front 43,336 at Citi Field came to mind, when Garrett was in the process of turning his 2022 around. The Alabama native was equally as good yesterday against those same Metropolitans and was an Out away from picking up the Dub.

The Marlins beat the Mets by 5, and you can say Bryan De La Cruz was responsible for a differential of 6 Runs on Easter Sunday. De La Cruz gave Garrett a 3 Run Lead with a 3 Run Blast in the 1st Inning. He then made the most important Defensive play of the Game with a sliding Catch which saved a pair of Runs that avoided N.Y knotting things up in the 4th. De La Cruz then added an RBI Sac Fly in the 7th for good measure.

Garrett taking the Bump yesterday in a successful Outing now sets up the Marlins with Alcantara, Luzardo, and Edward Cabrera (The Fish's Numbers 1-3 Starters) on the Hill in Philadelphia against the Defending National League Champion Phillies beginning tonight. #GoFish

Early impressions of Skip.

Speaking of Alcantara, it was refreshing to see Sandy allowed to finish Tuesday's 1-0 Victory against the Twinkies. Something tells me he would not have been Pitching the 9th Inning in Start number 2 last year because it would be too many "ups" so soon 😉.

Speaking of changes, it was equally as cool to see the Fish not afraid to mix things up with the Lineup early in the Season. With Luis Arraez sliding into more of a run producer spot at 3 in the Order and Jazz Chisholm Jr. becoming the Lead-Off Hitter again.

Only 10 Games in, but for the most part new Manager Skip Schumaker has impressed in the early going at the helm.
