It's quite the time in the sports world at the moment. The Florida Panthers are 1 Win away from their first ever Stanley Cup Trophy. The Cats currently lead the Edmonton Oilers 3 Games to 1 in the best of 7 finale. Florida's also in their second consecutive Stanley Cup Final, trying to bring it home in 2024. Let's Go Panthers!

The Boston Celtics, just like the Florida Panthers, own a 3 Games to 1 advantage heading into tonight's Game 5 of the NBA Finals in Beantown. The Celtics too now will revert Home to try and close out the Title in the Garden. Boston will be looking for their first Championship since 2008, the 'P.G.A Tour' days of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen.

The College World Series is also going on in Omaha, Nebraska; where the first 3 Games played ended in Walk-Off fashion. As we blog, University of Florida's Joe Caglianone hit his 34th Homer of the year. It's an elimination Game for the Gators, who are battling a very good NC State Wolfpack Team.

If the Stanley Cup Final #GoCats, the NBA Finals, or the College World Series aren't enough for you this summer, the 2024 Euro in Football is underway. While Copa America literally 'kicks'off this Thursday.

I don't know how often UEFA's/CONMEBOL's top trophy has been played simultaneously like this, but the fact most Leagues have paused for the moment (yes, I'm not counting the MLS 😅) gives these International Matches World Cup type vibes, which is pretty cool.

What certainty is not cool is the Marlins dropping 6 straight Series again and losing 11 of 13 Games, you know, AGAIN!! Or who knows, maybe it is cool with Owner Bruce Sherman & his lapdog Peter Bendix. After all, they Traded Luis Arraez once the Club gained the absolute slightest bit of momentum following a 3 Game Sweep. How'd Bendix put it after the Trade, "we're unlikely to make the Playoffs this year". Quite the message to you're fanbase 👍 with 129 Games remaining.

The Fish were able to pull off 4 consecutive Series in mid May, before reverting to this atrocious pace here once more. 100 Losses is a legit possibility this Season, something that has only taken place 3 times before in Marlins History, while those occurred right in the middle of rebuilds. This Marlins Squad was certainly not in rebuild mode at the start of the Season, and are they even now?? I mean Emmanuel Rivera, a soon to be 28 year old/somewhat journeyman whose never started more than 88 Games in the Big Leagues, he's in the Lineup everyday vs Lefthanded Pitching for the Marlins.

We had mentioned the name Burch Smith all the way back in March, as someone who was unexpectedly placed and then even more oddly maintained on the Marlins Roster in the early going. The Club's Analytics department must have really seen something at that time, but I'm guessing not anymore? Smith was Designated for Assignment over the weekend to make room for another arm Bendix's geeks had an eye on, Shaun Anderson, acquired from the Texas Rangers less than a month ago. Anderson was tagged for 7 Runs on 10 Hits in his 2 Inning Start on Friday and has since been Optioned back to AAA.

I guess what I'm trying to say in a harsh kind of way is how are Players like Rivera, Smith, Anderson more beneficial to the Club both now and in the future over guys playing for the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp the likes of Xavier Edwards, Tristan Gray, Jonah Bride, Anthony Maldonado or Yonny Chirinos?

These are moves that in the grand scheme of things will not push the needle one way or the other too much for a really bad Marlins Team, but are certainly disheartening Transactions or lack there of from a new Front Office that was brought in to acquire as much bang for their buck.

The Washington Nationals finished off a Sweep of the Marlins yesterday. Prized Lefty Jesus Luzardo who can rush his Fastball up to 98 MPH, struggled to even touch 93. While the Fish Offense mustered all of 2 RUNS IN 3 GAMES IN D.C.

Today the Marlins open up a 3 Game Series vs their Spring Training neighbors the St. Louis Cardinals. For the Ballclub, I'm sure they wish they could go back to Spring and wipe what's been an absolute disastrous Campaign clean. To be honest that's exactly what they need. Something fresh, something new. Like New Ownership!
