Son Los Marlins Top 10 Prospects

Seeing as it's the "trendy thing" to do these days, coupled with the fact the Marlins just called up Connor Norby. Let's do a Top 10 Prospect list.

It'll be a tad different from others, seeing as we will not include Players who are currently in the Show or who have Debuted at the Big League level in the past. So here we go!

#1: Thomas White

Though White was the 2nd Pick by the Marlins in last year's Draft, I think it's safe to say the 6-5 Left Hander resides at number 1 in the Fish Prospect Rankings at the moment. After really impressing in the Spring, the 35th Overall Pick in 2023 cruised through Single-A Jupiter, before continuing to dominate in High-A. For Beloit, White's already racked up 57 Strike Outs in 47 Innings to the tune of 2.49 ERA. The 19 Year Old is an imposing figure on the mound, not to mention a delivery that really seems to come right at you which hides his mid 90's heater and big breaking ball extremely well.

#2 Noble Meyer

Though it's been a bit of a rough Season statistically in Beloit for the Marlins 1st Overall Pick in the '23 Draft, Meyer did move up a level and continues to gain valuable experience as a fellow 19 year old. It's not difficult to see why the 6-5 Righty went 10th Overall last year. Mid 90's to go along with a big sweeping Breaking Ball, off a bit of a loosey goosey motion with his Right arm. I can see an Aaron Nola type Comp.

#3 Deyvison De Los Santos

We've reached the portion of this Prospect list of Players who were acquired during this past Fire Sale, I mean Trade Deadline. Reader discretion (if you can't stand the Fish Front Office like myself) is advised. Of said Prospects, De Los Santos has arguably by far the most raw power. The former D-Backs farmhand has popped 34 Longballs between Double-A and AAA, leading all of Minor League Baseball this Season. Equally as impressive, the Right Handed Slugger has driven in 100 between both levels. I get Jerar Encarnacion vibes (who the Marlins kind of messed up as a Prospect, what a surprise), but similarly De Los Santos stands tall in the box, and has legit power to all fields.

4. Robby Snelling

Staying on Prospects acquired at the Deadline front, Snelling was arguably the most talented Pitcher the Marlins acquired a few weeks back. Part of the Tanner Scott Trade, the 6-3 Lefthander coming back from San Diego was a former 1st Rounder who dominated both A-Ball and Double-A during his first year of pro ball last year. Similarly to Meyer, Snelling was having a rough year stats wise prior to the Trade, but the stuff is legit. Seeing a little Ryan Weathers (another SD guy) here. Bit of a violent delivery, but someone if he can locate a little better, has front line stuff.

5. Javier Sanoja

Coming back to Ballplayers who were already in the Marlins system, 'Gamer' is the kind of compliment that would suit Sanoja well. While not tall in stature, Sanoja has let his game stand tall the last couple years in the Fish Organization. The Venezuelan native can do a little bit of everything, from really scooting on the base paths, to showing sneaky power. Not to mention can play multiple positions in both the Infield and Outfield at a very high level. Sanoja is currently slashing .303/.367/.460 with an .827 OPS in Triple-A, after only playing in 15 Double-A Games.

6. Agustín Ramírez

The main piece coming back to the Marlins from the Jazz Chisholm Trade, Ramírez himself has plenty of raw power, as evident by his 22 Longballs between the top 2 levels of the Minors. There has been questions about his Defense behind the plate, while at the Dish we've noticed a bit of a long swing that could bring lots of strikeout problems in the Big Leagues. However, the Marlins desperately need a Backstop to step up and man the everyday Position in the Majors. Ramírez's hoping to be that masked man.

7. Jared Serna

Accompanying Ramirez from the Yankees Organization was Serna. The native of Mexico has already turned heads upon arriving to the Marlins Double-A Affiliate in Pensacola, where the Right Handed Bat is slashing .371/.430/.557 in 17 Games. Similarly to Sanoja, Serna's swing packs a legit punch, all while playing all fields. Can you imagine a combination of Serna/Sanoja in the not too distant future in Miami??

8. Troy Johnston

For whatever the reason being, and whether it was Kim Ng or Peter Bendix running the Marlins Front Office, Johnston continues to be overlooked in Miami. After the arrival of De Los Santos, the Lefty Hitter out of the State of Washington now finds himself playing a lot of Left Field instead of 1B. But whether Johnston's on the Infield or in the Outfield, he continues to produce at the plate, Slashing .305/.374/.506 with an .880 OPS in Jacksonville since May 25th (No small sample). This on the heels of Batting .323/.403/.520 with an .923 OPS in Triple-A last Season. Not much more to prove, as it seems the Marlins will eventually lose a solid Prospect, all over a simple lack of an opportunity.

9. Victor Mesa Jr.

The younger brother of ballyhoo Prospect Victor Victor Mesa (whose out of Baseball), Mesa Jr. turned into far and away the better catch for the Fish, as predicted by Son Los Marlins almost 5 Seasons ago. The athleticism of the younger Mesa can play, whether it be by speed or power, but what truly stands out is the baseball I.Q of the Left Handed Hitting true Centerfielder. A back Injury however, will unfortunately keep Mesa out of action the rest of this year.

10. Keyner Benitez

A name that could surprise many, Benitez cracks our Top 10. The just turned 18 Year Old Lefthanded Pitcher out of Samana, D.R, barely made his State side Debut this Year, after getting his start as a 17 Year Old in the Dominican Summer League in '23.  But if you had seen him Pitch for the Jupiter Hammerheads the other day, you would know the kid's a little beyond his years. Mid 90's, with a big 12-6 Curveball, to go along with a truly wicked Changeup? Works for me. All while going 5 full Innings as an 18 Year Old in A-Ball, keep an eye out for that name.

Keep an eye out for this next wave of Marlins Prospects too.
