Payback's a Buc
Oh how the turn tables. Same opponent, same time of the year, same venue. Different results. March 28, of 2024 saw the Marlins commence a new Season by facing the Pittsburgh Pirates for a 4 Game Series in Miami. The Buccos would pick up a come from behind Win on Opening Day in Extra Innings, and cap a 4 Game Road Sweep in the finale at the Fish's expense by erasing a 5-0 deficit.
March 27, of 2025 marked this year's Opener, and it was the Marlins whom trailed Paul Skenes & the Pirates 4-1 more than half way through the Contest, only to stage their own Opening Day Comeback with a dramatic Walk-Off in the bottom of the 9th. Following more 9th Inning drama in Game 2, the Fish would again pull out late inning comebacks on both Saturday and Sunday to take 3 out of 4 from the Bucs.
We mentioned this Marlins Team played a lot better baseball in the 2nd Half of last Season. They definitely showed grit during what was a thrilling Opening Series in South Florida.
Today, the Fish open another Series with the New York Mets. Juan Soto and his new 15 Year/$765 Million Dollar Contract will be in the house. The Metropolitans will be pitted up against the Marlins own Free Agent Signing in Cal Quantrill, who was inked last month for 1 Year/$3.5 Million.
It's not only the Baseball new year on the calendar these days. WrestleMania Season is upon us. Monday Night Raw, which should probably go by Monday 'Day' Raw by now, seeing as that for the 3rd consecutive week WWE finds itself in Europe during the Company's biggest annual buildup.
The headliner heading into Mania, colossal. Following John Cena's heel turn at Elimination Chamber, setting up the dream match with WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. Though a Match of this magnitude didn't need the traditional baby-face v heel setup, the Cena turn sent shock waves through absolutely every industry.
Keep in mind, Cena has long ago announced his retirement at the end of 2025. I don't think anybody truly believes the 17 time World Champ will put a bow as a Heel on an over 20 year Career (mostly ALL of it as a face).
It's why I believe you haven't seen (nor likely will) the former Doctor of Thuganomics lean too far into the Heel role (though today's promo he had with Rhodes was absolute fire 🔥). This would allow for an eventual turn back to baby-face to feel a little more transitional.
Make no mistake about it, the Main Event closing the entire show April 20th will be Rhodes & Cena. Regardless of how WWE want's to announce certain Matches. I can't be the only one tired of Roman Reigns, right?!
