All-Star Fish
Tis the Season. No, we're not talking the World Cup (although Arriba Mexico). It's All-Star Voting Season in Major League Baseball 😉. The Mid-Summer Classic is about a month out, and the Marlins look to be well represented in the City of Brotherly Love..
The Fish find themselves just 3 Games Under .500, after a hot start to the month. It's hard to fathom where the Marlins would be in 2026 without Otto Lopez, Xavier Edwards, Liam Hicks, Javier Sanoja and Max Meyer. 4 could find themselves in Philly as Marlins All-Stars.
Lopez, the National League Batting Leader at .341, also leads the League with 89 Hits. Leading the Fish in WAR (3.1), Otto Lopez continues to be Mr. Clutch for the Marlins, Batting .340 with Runners in Scoring Position. Having watched Lopez since 2024, this Offensive outburst should not come as a surprise by one of the most underrated performers in the Game.
A true 'X' Factor in the Fish Lineup, it truly is special to watch what Xavier Edwards can do in the Batter's Box. Using the Bat almost as if it were an extension of his hands, Edwards is slashing .306/.391/.456, showing Pop this year from the Right side, while continuing to play Gold Glove caliber Defense at Second.
Hicks has quickly turned himself into the best Rule-5 Draft pick in Marlins History since Dan Uggla 20 years ago. While speaking of Uggla, power has certainly been implemented into the Game of Liam Hicks in 2026, already doubling his Home Run output from his Rookie Season in '25, while his 48 RBI places him in the Top-5 of the NL, thanks in large part to Hitting .322 with RISP. Did we mention that abut half of Hicks' Games Played through May came as a Catcher?!
As you don't see Sanoja's name in the Marlins Lineup everyday, you probably won't see him at the All-Star Game in July. But that takes nothing away from the best Utility Player on the Squad. For all you have to do is watch Sanoja play once to see how he impacts every Game on Defense, at the Plate, and when it matters most.
To think Max Meyer's 2026 started off by giving up 3 Runs in the very First Inning of Start number 1 to the Year. Meyer would go on to toss 4 scoreless the rest of the way in a Fish Win vs Colorado on March 29th, and has become unequivocally the Marlins Ace this Season. A perfect 6-0 stands Meyer (should be 7-0 after handing over a 4 Run Lead in the 7th last night). As a matter of fact, the former 1st Rd. Pick has left 12 of his last 13 Starts with the Fish ahead on the scoreboard, pitching to the tune of a 2.85 Earned Run Average this Season. A Season that by all accounts will Max Meyer in the All-Star Game.
An honorable mention: Anthony Bender has been on a mission out of the Marlins Bullpen. After a really rough start to the Year (first 9 Games), Bender is 4 for 4 in Holds, picked up a Save, has stranded 8 of 10 Baserunners, with an incredible 21/1 K to BB Ratio and pitched to a 0.91 ERA over his 19 Games.
