June bug
We're into the first week of June. Game 2 of the NBA Finals between the San Antonio Spurs & New York Knicks is tonight. The World Cup gets underway in less than a week's time. In the College Baseball world, Super Regional weekend has commenced this afternoon, with a trip to the College World Series hanging in the balance. Yet we're here to talk about the Citrus Series.
After taking 2 out of 3 against the Rays in Miami in 2025, the Marlins will be looking to win back to back Home Series vs Tampa Bay for the first time since 2010-2011. The Devil Rays dominance over the Marlins continued about 3 weeks ago, when Tampa took 2 out of 3 in the Trop. The Fish will be looking to return the favor, with Tyler Phillips expected to see bulk action out of the Bullpen tonight, and Sandy Alcantara scheduled to go Sunday. Still no word from the Marlins higher-up on tomorrow's Starting Pitcher.
Speaking of high ranking Marlins officials. I reckon I could've asked Fish GM Gabe Kapler; who was gonna pitch for his Squad this weekend?? Kapler was sitting a couple rows behind me yesterday over at the Jupiter Hammerheads Game. However, that was probably for only a good solid inning I would say, before disappearing. I truly don't believe Kapler has met the media even once since being announced as Marlins GM at the end of the 2025 Baseball Calendar. Must be nice to have so much pull inside an Organization, with what seems like zero accountability for 2 1/2 years now.
Back over to on the field stuff, the Marlins finally return Home after a long 9 Game Roadtrip which started North of the Border. After letting a Series slip away at the hands of the Blue Jays, things took a turn for the ugly. Getting swept by one of the worst Teams in the National League in the New York Mets (whom extracted revenge from a week prior), serving as the low point to the Fish Season. What could've turned into a disastrous trip for the Marlins, was at least salvaged somewhat in the Nation's Capitol. The Marlins come into this Rays Series fresh off Sweeping the Nationals here in to begin a brand new month in June.
