Los Juegos de Exhibición del Spring Training 2023 para los Marlins llegaron y se nos fueron en un abrir y cerrar de ojos. Miami será el destino para el Opening Day de Grandes Ligas éste Jueves. El Viernes se anunció lo que todo el mundo ya sabía, que Sandy Alcántara abrirá en la Lomita para los Peces por 4ta vez consecutiva (algo que nunca se a hecho en la historia de la Franquicia). Es más, la compañía en cual ya se encontraba Sandy (desde 2020), es una muy exclusiva en la Historia de los Marlins. Alcántara le Ganó a los Phillies en Filadelfia para comenzar el 2020 (La Temporada corta gracias al Covid-19). Fue la última vez que los Marlins Ganaron un Opening Day, y la primera vez que lograron Victoria para comenzar una Temporada desde 2014, cuando Joseito Fernández Lanzó y le Ganó a Colorado en La Pequeña Habana.   The Fish quietly added a couple Veterans, another flamethrower from the Left side, and a little Minor League Depth to the 2023 Bullpen. How it all pieces together is the job of new Manager Skip Schumaker and G.M Kim Ng. But there's no denying the Pen has a little different feel to it.  New Vets Matt Barnes (not the tattoo guy who used to play for the Lakers) and JT Chargois, bring parts of 14 Years of combined MLB experience to the Marlins Bullpen, Barnes as the Red-Sox Closer over the last few Seasons. Both Barnes & Chargois have very similar repertoires, while they can rush it up there (Chargois in the high 90's), they are very reliant on a wipeout Slider that can be very effective against both Lefties and especially Righties.   How intense (and of course fun) have these World Baseball Classic Games been! And we're barely on the 1st leg of the Tournament, which started in Taiwan Wednesday..   How can you tell Spring has arrived? That's easy, whether it's the Caribbean🌴 Series, Marlins ⚾ Fan Fest this past weekend, or Pitchers and Catchers reporting Monday?..Sort of 😉.   It's the Holiday Season 🎅, which means the New Year is right around the corner 🎉, which also means baseball ⚾️ isn't too far behind. Spring Training will quickly creep up the calendar in February and when the Marlins open camp in 2023, a Position that has been locked down for the last 3 Seasons may have some moving parts to it. Shortstop has been Marlins Leader/unOfficial Captain Miguel Rojas' going into the last 3 years. Miggy-Ro was given the reigns at Short during the 2019 Campaign by Derek Jeter/Don Mattingly & company and has never looked back. Making the absolute most of his first opportunity into becoming a Big League Regular. Batting .277 to go along with a respectable .334 OBP in over 300 Games Played from '19-2021.  Twice, Rojas has Signed Team friendly 2 Year Contract Extensions in Miami, due in large part to the leadership he's brought to the Clubhouse (especially during the 2020 Playoff Season in the middle of the pandemic).  All while ...

  The 2022 Regular Season may have wrapped up Wednesday, but even for the Marlins who won't be Playing in this Postseason, there's a lot of work to do now and into the Winter. The Fish ended with a 14-13 Record over their last 27 Games, which not only helped them avoid a 100 Loss Season, but also avoided 95 Losses from which they would have suffered from for the 4th time in 5 years. As the Marlins look to 2023, where do things stand on the Position Player side, which is by far the weakest layer of the Club?  A name that had the most to do with that final month success was Bryan De La Cruz. Yesterday was built as an "end of an era" in Marlins Baseball. In terms of Wins and Losses, it certainly was a very tough era for the Fish.  Don Mattingly Managed his final Game in a Marlins Uniform, and quite possibly in the Big Leagues yesterday. Am I that naïve to think a new Manager is suddenly going to walk into the Miami Clubhouse, wave a magic wand, and miraculously turn the Marlins into Contenders? No. But to see the Fish not accept mediocrity anymore, and in some cases even embrace it , is at least a good sign for the fan base. A new voice, with a different thought process and ideas has been desperately needed by the Franchise for a very long time now . General Manager Kim Ng & Owner Bruce Sherman are in charge of finding that new voice for the Marlins. A voice that would not hurt being from the outside as opposed to in house if you ask me.   Sure the 1998 Florida Marlins Lost 108 Games, after a complete Team Fire 🔥 Sale of the 1997 World Championship Squad. A Fire Sale that included SIXTEEN Players on the '97 Marlins that were Traded in 12 separate Deals made by the time the '98 Trading Deadline had arrived. Said Fire 🔥 Sale coupled with all of the losses did HOWEVER open the door to the likes of Alex Gonzalez, Ryan Dempster, Luis Castillo, Preston Wilson, and Derek Lee, none established in the Big Leagues in 1998 (Year 1 of a Rebuild), and all future All-Stars.
