We touched on it a little bit on Twitter yesterday. But man, Day Games on getaway days for the Marlins in HOTlanta have been almost that, a living 🔥 breathing hell 🔥.

 

'Almost', because 'finally' the Marlins finished 1 off, secured the Victory, and a Series win came with it against the Defending Chumps yesterday afternoon in G.A 🍑!




SEVEN TIMES the Fish have been Walked-Off in Atlanta since 2018. ¡SEVEN! ..So excuse us Fish Fans if we have some PTSD whenever the Marlins play at Truist Park.


1 of the most gut wrenching losses in Marlins History was suffered at the hands of Dansby Swanson & the Braves back in May of 2018. The Marlins had a 5 RUN LEAD heading into the 9th, a lead Brad Ziegler and Tayron Guerrero could not hold, as Atlanta pushed across 6 Runs in the final Frame.
   

Curtis Granderson knotted this Sunday Rubber-Match for the Fish with a 9th Inning Homer back in April of 2019. But Adam Conley & the Marlins couldn't get an out in the bottom half of the Inning, setting up Swanson again with a Walk-Off Bases Loaded Hit to Left.
    

The Marlins were gunning for a 4 Game Sweep of the Braves and some serious momentum last April on a getaway Thursday afternoon. But just as quickly as the Fish took a come from behind 9th Inning Lead in Atlanta, the Braves & (Guess Who) Swanson Walked-Off Dylan Floro & the Fish with yet another Bases Loaded Base Hit to Left Field.
    

Nothing like blowing a 4 Run 9th Inning Lead on the 4th of July. That's exactly the fate Yimi Garcia & the Marlins suffered last year. Only this time it wasn't Swanson who delivered the Walk-Off Base Knock, it was PITCHER MAX FRIED off Anthony Bass in the 10th Inning.


They're couldn't have been 1 Marlins Fan who didn't think Atlanta was going to complete the comeback during yesterday's 9th Inning. The Marlins carried a 5-1 Lead into the 9th. Tanner Scott, who was nails on Saturday night in securing a back and forth affair against the Braves, took the Mound. However, Austin Riley and the Bravos quickly turned a 4 Run Lead into a 1 Run lead for the Fish, after a straight up Blast to Left🚀Center.


  

It had been a collective effort up to that point for the Marlins Bullpen. Cody Poteet, Richard Bleier, Anthony Bass (Escaping 2 Big-Jams in both the 7th & 8th), and Scott were all summoned following a terrific 5 Innings from Starter Jesus 🇵🇪 Luzardo.



You knew Manager Don Mattingly would stay away from Cole Sulser (Who the Marlins in general shouldn't be afraid to give the 9th Inning Ball to), Lefty Steven Okert, and Shawn Armstrong, after all 3 had Pitched Saturday and Friday (Trailing might I add). Anthony Bender has been banged up and obviously was not available Sunday. So who do the Marlins turn to?

None other than Louis Head comes through, after a Marcell Ozuna Double put the tying Run in Scoring Position. Head followed with 2 Huge Strikeouts of Adam (Former Marlin) Duvall & Eddie (Playoff Hero) Rosario.


The Marlins, at 7-8, now continue they're Road Trip into Washington, where Sandy Alcantara and Pablo Lopez take the ball in Games 1 & 2. The Fish have a legit chance of coming home with a really successful Road-Trip, something that has not happened too often. Hey, neither has what happened in Atlanta on Sunday afternoon. 


By the way, Head's final Strikeout left none other than Swanson on Deck 😉.

  No way around it. The Marlins have started the Season pretty much as bad as it gets in the Win/Loss column. A straight O for 5 to commence 2024. Frustration was palpable inside the Marlins Dugout last night. A 4 Game Sweep at the hands of the Pittsburgh Pirates was followed by a 7-4 Loss to the Angels to commence a new Series and the month of April, all at Home. The Marlins lost a 3 Run Lead on Opening Day, a 5 Run Advantage on Sunday, and a 4-0 start to yesterday's Game. The Shutdown Inning from their Starters has been nonapparent each time the Fish have scored first, from Jesus Luzardo on Opening Day, to Trevor Rogers & Max Meyer having both been given big leads in the First Inning. Not to mention short Starts from A.J Puk & David Weathers.  The Marlins Offense is the one that does seem to shutdown after some early hot starts.   As much Roster turnover as say, the Marlins Lineup has had over the last few months, with the additions of Avisail Garcia, Jorge Soler, Jacob Stallings, and Joey Wendle. Not to mention the additions by subtractions of Lewis Brinson, Jorge Alfaro, and Isan Diaz. The Marlins Bullpen has pretty much stayed the same since the end of last year, and that may not necessarily be all that of a bad thing. With the volatile nature that is Relieving from 1 Season to the next at times in Major League Baseball, the Marlins decided to allocate more of their Payroll recourses in upgrading the Offense this Off-Season, true. But don't discredit the fact that the Club retained a couple of their most reliable Veteran Relievers either.
