FIN de Semana

As the Major League Baseball Regular Season comes to it's finish this weekend (well, kind of 🍑🍎), it's been crunch time for numerous Teams (some not even in the Playoff Race), all as October draws ever so closer. Both the Dodgers & Yankees clinched their Divisions last night at Home, over the Clubs just beneath them in Standings no less in the Padres & Orioles.  While there's not much surprise in that L.A & the Yanks are headed to October once again, the same can't be said about Detroit and Kansas City. I don't think many people had the Tigers & Royals on their Postseason bingo cards when the Year started, yet both have magic numbers of just 1 to clinch American League Wild Cards. All while the Marlins of all Teams lent a very big hand to both Clubs this week. The Minnesota Twins, last year's A.L Central Division Winner, entered the mid week Series vs the Fish just a Game out of a Wild Card spot. Now, the Twinkies will need nothing short of a

As the Marlins completed their penultimate Road Trip of 2024, going 1-6 against two mediocre Teams of the National League in Pittsburgh & Washington, they'll now return Home to face the Club with the 2nd best record in all of Baseball in the L.A Dodgers starting tomorrow night. The Fish now stand at 55-95, a whopping 40 Games Under .500 with 12 Games remaining. The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp still have a week to go on their 2024 Calendar, the last Marlins Minor League Affiliate with Game action remaining. Lefthander Dale Stanavich will get a Promotion for this final week from Double-A Pensacola, who played their final Contest of 2024 yesterday. Stanavich put up some solid numbers out of the Blue Wahoos Bullpen and was a part of the 2023 Jupiter Hammerheads Title run last year. Speaking of the '23 Hammerheads, fellow Lefty in that Jupiter Bullpen Evan Taylor himself had a solid campaign. Racking up 52 Strikeouts in 44.1 Innings for High-A Beloit, to the tune of 2.84 ERA. Positives in the Rough

Not the easiest thing to find positives on a 54-92 Marlins Squad, especially fresh off being Swept right out of Pittsburgh, P.A (Bruce Sherman, Sell the Team btw ). All notwithstanding, let's head to the Bullpen, where whether by Trade (the likes of Tanner Scott & A.J Puk) or Injury (similarly to Calvin Faucher or Andrew Nardi) the Marlins 'Pen has had a complete overhaul here for the final Month, yet is trying to find a few diamonds in the rough. We formerly had mentioned the name Jesus Tinoco, who has the right to claim the Johnny Cash song 'I've been everywhere' as his MLB theme music. Tinoco has Pitched for 4 MLB Teams, 3 of those Clubs over separate stints (including Florida where he Appeared in 3 Games during the Covid Season of '20).  The 6-4 Right Hander originally signed by the Blue-Jays, has been a part of 6 different Organizations, not including the Seibu Lions of the Japan Professional Baseball League whom Tinoco Pitched for last year. Should be a fun one tonight.

Fresh off a winning Road-Trip and a .500 Homestand, the Marlins hit the Road once more to Pittsburgh P.A to face Rookie phenom Paul Skenes and the Pirates. The last time the Fish were in PNC Park, the Franchise was celebrating a Playoff berth almost a full year ago. While things have certainty gone in the opposite direction this year for the Marlins, they will be featuring some talented Rookies of their own in this Series. The Marlins picked up a Series in San Francisco over the weekend, snapping their 9 consecutive Series Winless Streak, while also Wining a Series in the Bay for the first time since 2017. The Club then returned Home last night and dropped the opener against a Nationals Team that's had the Fish's number all Season (0-8). A far cry from last year and Seasons pasts vs D.C. No doubt it's been one of the absolute roughest Campaigns in Marlins History. At 51-87, let's just say it's a good thing a Club like the White Sox have absolutely imploded at 31-109 this Year 😬.  The Fish Rotation as we mentioned has been in shambles due to Injuries throughout the Year. Though there seems to be the slightest bit of good news in that Lefties Ryan Weathers (3 Scoreless IP's on a Rehab in Jupiter last night) & Braxton Garrett will try to make a Start or 2 during this final month of the Season. Speaking of good news, how cool was it to see the Marlins finally call-up Outfielde

Seeing as we did a Top 10 Marlins Prospects take earlier this week, to pretty good reviews might I add. Thought it to be fitting to do a little Son Los Marlins Boxing Top 10 Pound for Pound list. You read that right, so knuckle up. Now, when speaking to any boxing fan or expert about a definition into the meaning of pound for pound, you'll always get a varying answer. I've always considered that being pound for pound number 1 means that you're the best in the world, regardless of weight class. For example, a Lightweight's gonna have a really tough time against a Heavyweight, but if you were to just take each Fighter's skill set into account, who would be the better Boxer if both were in the same Weight Division.  Others take into effect how certain Champions are able to move up or down weight classes, while claiming numerous Titles.  Also make allowances for a Fighter's popularity and how much interest they're garnering into their Bouts.   The Marlins got Swept and Lost their 81st Game of the Season last night at Home to the Arizona Diamondbacks. It's August 22nd, there are 35 Games remaining on the 2024 Schedule. Yikes! It got us thinking, how many Big losing Campaigns have the Fish endured now under Owner Bruce Sherman. Sherman, thanks to the supereminent reputation in Baseball at the time of Derek Jeter, purchased the Marlins in the fall of 2017. In less than 7 Seasons, the Marlins have had all the likes of Michael Hill, Jeter/Gary Denbo, Kim Ng, and now Peter Bendix running their Baseball Department. Sherman/Jeter also had to employ a couple Presidents off the field, in Chip Bowers (who lasted barely a year) & Caroline O'Connor (the current Marlins Prez of Business Ops). CEO/part Owner Jeter was eventually let go himself by Sherman over results on and off the field in 2022. The Marlins lost 93 Games in '22 following Jeter's departure, made the Playoffs in 2023, and now have reverted to an atroci
